Have you been wanting to do a modern quilt and try out some fun new blocks? We are doing the City Sampler from Tula Pink's fabulous book - 100 Modern Quilt Blocks. This is going to be a great project!
The city sampler blocks will be 6 1/2" blocks. Each month you will get four blocks, and we will vary the blocks according to the color wheel, so you will get a wide variety of color! We will also offer a City Sampler Plus kit which has a variety of fabrics to make additional blocks - it will be a great start if you want to make all 100 blocks in the book!
We have two ways you can do this project - as a Saturday Sampler, if you are local, or as a block of the month if you are not close enough to visit us each month! If you are doing it as a block of the month, the monthly fee includes everything you need to make the top - blocks, borders, sashing, insets, plus your binding, and you do not need to pay the registration fee. You would need to purchase the book if you don't already have it. If you are local, you need to register for the project and the details are outlined below.
Registration fee includes pattern and first block. You will need to select and/or purchase your background / sashing fabric, as well as any border fabric(s) you may need. For the Gridlock Quilt (page 240 in the book), there is no background fabric, and the sashing and border fabric are the same. The book also offers other layout options; we are highlighting this one since we are choosing the colors of the rainbow for the blocks!
If you are local and doing this project as a Saturday Sampler, complete your blocks and bring them back the following month and your next blocks are FREE! The feature fabrics will be a variety of medium colors so they will work with either a light or dark background fabric. Your block will include all of the fabrics needed to make the blocks.
We are really excited about this quilt, and hope you will join us in this fun project. It will include a variety of techniques, and as always, you are welcome to stay and sew after you pick up your block, and we'll have short lessons on each of the techniques as we introduce them!
And again, if you are not local and would still like to participate, you can select the block of the month option and we will send you the pattern with the first blocks, and then we will charge and send you the blocks each month! Your cost will include sashing, borders, binding, and of course the blocks - everything you need to make this beautiful quilt top! Let us know if you also need the book.
Note: We are currently offering this on the 2nd Monday morning, OR the 3rd Tuesday evening. We are considering a Saturday option; let us know if that would work for you.
