The Rocky Mountain Bear Claw is a new look to an original Quiltworx pattern named North American Bear Paw, designed by Judy and Bradley Niemeyer when our company first started in the late 1990s. Our new ‘Rocky Mountain Bear Claw’ is authentic with its (5) viscous claws and woodsy fabric line. The color layout for the quilt on the cover was created from a collection of batiks by Island Batik. The Bear Claw pattern and instructions take you back a few generations when quilt trends incorporated scrappy backgrounds and were pieced with repeating elements. The setting for the Bear Claw is unique in that the blocks are tilted in the layout, then sewn together by rotating the blocks around a 3-1/2″ square. Spiky border units were designed to square up the quilt. Floating Points, Smart Corners, and Template Layout Sheets are featured in this design, bringing a classic Quiltworx pattern up to the current design standards that our customers have come to expect when they work with one of our patterns.
